"On the night of July 18, 1969, Kennedy was on Martha's Vineyard's Chappaquiddick Island at a party for the "Boiler Room Girls", a group of young women who had worked on his brother Robert's presidential campaign the year before.Leaving the party, Kennedy was driving a 1967 Oldsmobile Delmont 88 with one of the women, 28-year-old Mary Jo Kopechne, as his passenger, when Kennedy drove off
That night "Teddy" went back to his hotel and had a nice night of sleep while the girl slept with the fishes. Of course the best way to detoxify your body after drinking, is time. Because his name is Kennedy (apparently the wrong two were shot) he got away with this. Now that he is dead, he is celebrated as a hero. If this was anyone else......Jail! What about that poor girl, and her family?
Camelot.....what a load of crap. The same idiots who revere and love this family are the same Americans who love following the British monarchy and wept for two weeks when princess Diana met her demise. I guess at least they are not criminals. I just don't get it. I will admit there was something kind of sexy about Jacki 'O.

Now dear, I think you are being a little hard and quick to judge. While I agree that most of the Kennedys were not the 'heroes' and stand up guys they have made out to be, including dear old Teddy, I think the Brittish monarchy is a little different. While I certainly did not shed a tear when Diana passed, I find the history of the monarchy through out time and in fact the extreme changes that have taken place in the past century really interesting. I think the protocol and rich tradition that is suddenly being lost after being preserved all this time fascinating and a little sad, not because the royals have done anything to really deserve the respect they once got, but because it's a sign of the times and the extreme loss of courtesy, chilvary and general kindness that seems to be happening in societies today. Now all too many people seem to have a sense of entitlement and are completely rude. No one opens a door for you (and as a lady with a stroller, I REALLY miss that), no one smiles, says excuse me, lets you go first in line when you have one item to their 50... it's a commodity that is becomming all to rare and it'sad.
As for the poor Kennedys... it's interesting how a crazy bootlegger thug can set his sights on something, and get it. Joe wanted a president, and boy oh boy he got one. But how much of a chance did those kids have with a father like that, and a mother who apparently let him get away with it... I mean the man stole his "slow" daughter one day and had her labotomized without telling anyone, and then stuck her in the convent. GREAT role model. Don't you find it a little interesting that in spite of what scum bags these guys all seemed to be personally, everyone still LOVED them? You wouldn't know about that, you who hated MJ the "CHILD MOLESTER" until the day he died & you were his #1 fan. ;)
